The hill in the foreground is Pendinas just South of Aberystwyth on which is the reamains of an iron age hillfort. On the horizon is the Lleyn peninsula with Snowdon, the mountain seen on the far right of the range. Just out of the shot on the left is Bardsey Island with its lighthouse, one of two that can be seen from the farm, the other being Strumble Head in Pembrokeshire

A waterspout photograhed by my daughter, Jemima in January 2008 on an unstable day with strong SW winds and heavy showers. The twister was preceeded a minute before by a smaller one which only dropped a couple of hundred feet from cloudbase before disappearing. A bulge further along the cloud then developed into this beauty. It grounded over the sea about 5 miles from where the picture was taken. The estimated height is about 1200ft from cloudbase to sea level, the photograph being taken at 1000 ft ASL. It lasted for about 2 minutes.
